Emergency Action Plan

Emergency Notification:

In the event of an emergency, notification of the emergency will be though the use of 911. The caller should have the following information available to the 911 operator:

  1. Location of the emergency

  2. Nature of the emergency

  3. Contact person with a callback number

After calling 911, please alert festival staff of the emergency.

Medical emergencies:

The limited provisions for on-site Emergency Medical Services at this event include:

  1. First-aid kit/AED: At the information booth on the conrer of Michigan Ave & Grand River (Saturday and Sunday only)

  2. First-aid kit/AED: At the Festival tent check in table located at the south end of State St. (Thursday-Sunday)

  3. First-aid kit/AED: At the Run check in booth located at the corner of State St. & Clinton St. (Friday only)

Should an incident occur that requires Emergency Medical Services, the EAP or festival staff/volunteer and/or a patron will contact 911 to request this resource. The caller should have the following information available to the 911 operator:

  1. Location of the emergency

  2. Nature of the emergency

  3. Contact person with a callback number

Lost Child/Parent/Person Procedure:

Bring the reporting person immediately to the Festival Tent check-in table (Thursday-Friday) / Information Booth (Saturday-Sunday) & talk/call a staff member.

Severe Weather:

Event staff will use bull horns and will walk the festival footprint directing participants to the nearest shelter, listed below. The EAP Rep will also designate a HAPRA staff member to send out a severe weather and shelter notice through the Mobile Text alert service.

Event staff and public safety officials will utilize the Mobile Text Alerts to notify participating businesses and shelters that shelter in place is needed as well as the all clear when the warning has been lifted or until it is safe to do so.
